Electrically powered soil warming cable manufactured by Parasene.
Parasene soil warming cables are an ideal way to propagate seeds and cuttings in the greenhouse or cold frame.
Soil takes time to warm up naturally in Spring, however, by using a soil warming cable you are able to plant earlier and raise better specimens.
Once you have constructed your bedding area e.g a raised bed, you lay the soil warming cable in a back & forth fashion as shown in the photograph.
The soil warming cable is typically laid in runs approx. 7.5cm to 10cm apart. This layout will enable you to raise the soil temperature by 11 to 13 degrees C.
However, if you wish the soil temperature to be higher, the soil warming cable can be laid in runs as close together as 5cm.
In addition to the soil warming cable, an optional thermostat is available which allows you to precisely control the soil temperature, allowing you to meet the differing germination requirements of various seed varieties. Although useful for any use, it is particularly recommended when you are looking to lay the soil warming cable runs close together to raise the temperature.
The cable comes in four different lengths and the table belows the options available and the approximate area covered - although this will vary depending on how close together the soil warming cable runs are laid.
